You can choose to use one of the two templates below!
For PE this year, students have two options to choose from. They may participate in the Presidential Fitness Challenge or use an activity log to track their activity each week. Please note that 5th graders are required to complete a minimum of 90 minutes per week. The activity log is the easiest option to keep track of this!
Making Your Choice:
Presidential Active Lifestyle Award:
f you are currently participating in an ongoing activity such as soccer, dance, martial arts, or gymnastics; or if you spend a lot of time hiking, swimming, or playing in the park, as well as having a desire to improve your eating habits, the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award program may be right for you. If you are interested in working out to get your body in better shape and create physical fitness goals based on performance, then you may wish to take part in the Presidential Youth Fitness Program.
The President's Youth Fitness Program recognizes students for their level of physical fitness. The challenge consists of exercises that are measured against personal goals and the Healthy Fitness Zone® standards. These exercises are divided between three types of activities: aerobic capacity, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility.
Activity Log :
You and your student should record any physical activity that is completed on a daily basis, whether you participate in the Connections Academy, Yoga, or Personal Fitness Plan. When you are finished with your physical activity, you will need to add your exercise to a Physical Activity Log . You will submit your log containing the activities you completed to your teacher via the Drop Box at the end of each unit.
To use the Physical Activity Log document successfully, follow these guidelines. In the exercise section, type in the exercises that were completed each day. In the minutes section, type in the amount of time the student spent exercising each day. You should list every activity you complete each day even if it is more than one. There may be more weeks on the document than you need, but you are only required to fill in the number of weeks that are in each unit. For example, if the unit is eight weeks in length, then you will need to fill in eight weeks of physical activity into the document. At the end of each unit, you will submit the Physical Activity Log to your teacher using the Drop Box provided in that lesson. Then, you will start over and complete a new Physical Activity Log for the next unit. You should save a local copy of this document now to your computer, so that you can easily create a new document for each unit.
